Why do creators create?
Creating content for yourself. VS. Creating content for the sake of more followers are two approaches to running a blog.
Creating content with the intention of growing more followers, is nothing but a downward spiral. Since your ability to create better content becomes contingent on your growth.
Like everything else in life: what goes up, must come down.
Similarly, when you stop growing or become stagnant, your ability to create quality content becomes terribly compromised by your demotivation caused by low followers and engagement.
Truth be told, a requested shout out will not give you the same level of gratification that you have been searching for.
You know the endorphin rush you get when you win a game? That's the kind of feeling you get the moment you get a shoutout when you least expect it. Don't force it. Let it happen organically.
Trust yourself and your timing in life. Don't be so hard on yourself. Good things come in small doses and at their own pace.
Like-minded people will find you eventually. And you'll see that it's better to have people follow you for your content instead of being asked to follow you.
Learn to appreciate yourself and the value you add to your own brand.
Your work should speak for itself.
Once you'll understand this, you'll begin to see that you don't need to waste your energy slidding into DMs and having awkward conversations just for a shoutout. You don't need validation from others.
All you need, is to be consistent with your work and honest with yourself.
And time will take care of the rest.
